Who
Are The Bush Pioneers & Rangers?
Pioneers & Rangers by
Geography
Elite Bush donors hail from
49 states, Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia and London, England. Only Rhode Island
has yet to produce a Bush Pioneer or Ranger. Bush's home state of Texas
produced the most elite donors, providing 66 in each of the 2000 and 2004 races. While Texas
produced comparable numbers of elite donors in both election cycles, dramatic
growth in other states has caused Texas' share of this donor network to
slip from 27 percent in 2000 to 12 percent in 2004.
-
The Bush dynasty states of Texas
and Florida were the leading bastions of elite Bush donors in both 2000
and 2004.
-
The most dramatic growth in elite
Bush donors came in the finance capital of New York, which quintupled the
ranks of its elite donors. Meanwhile battleground state Ohio quadrupled
its elite Bush donors, as did Virginia
and the District of Columbia.
-
Two states on the 2004 top-10 list
virtually built their elite-donor networks from scratch. Georgia leapt
from three elite donors to 20, while Illinois shot from one to 18.
-
Just one state produced
fewer elite donors in 2004 than tit did in 2000: New Jersey dropped from 18 to 14.
